World map of whiskey

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

If you wanted to learn about different types of whiskey around the world, probably the last place you’d think to look would be the business pages of India Today.  Nonetheless, that’s where I found a great article explaining the differences among types of whiskey around the world.  It covers Scotland, Canada, America, Ireland, Sweden, Russia, India, Germany, England, Japan, Australia, Wales, and France.

No matter whiskey-producing country is your favorite, be sure to enjoy your whiskey of choice in one of Mid-South Alcoholic Supply’s highball glasses or old fashioned glasses.

The champagne chair contest

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Every year, a design firm called Design within Reach holds a contest called The Champagne Chair Contest.  It’s a contest in which competitors design a miniature chair using only the foil, label, cage and cork from no more than two Champagne bottles.  The only other material allowed is glue, and the mini-chairs can measure no more than 4 inches in any dimension.  Here are links to the 2007 winners and the 2008 winners.  Winners are judged by a panel of industry experts.  Deadline for entry for the 2009 contest is January 9.

So go out and buy a couple of bottles of champagne to harvest contest materials, and enjoy their contents in one of Mid-South Alcoholic Supply’s champagne flutes.
