If you plan to party, have some lean protein first

It’s Saturday, and many of us have Christmas and holiday parties to attend tonight.  Yours truly will be attending an “ugly sweater” party, one of the newer Christmas traditions.  Just as long as they have plenty of alcohol there…

Anyway, on to the point of this post.  This SeattlePi.com article recommends that you start a long night of partying and drinking with some lean protein.  It suggests a shrimp cocktail as the ideal thing to order at the bar, with satay and Swedish meatballs being other good choices.  These are preferred over fried items and nachos.  The protein, the article says, slows the effects alcohol has on your brain and body.
