Wine books that make great gifts
The Charlottesville news and arts website C-ville recently ran an article entitled Lush Lit: Five great wine books for the holidays. Here’s a quick summary of their book recommendations:
- Napa by James Conaway, a story of American farmers, pioneers, and immigrant winemakers
- The Billionaire’s Vinegar by Benjamin Wallace, a detective story centered around a bottle of 1787 wine supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson that was sold for $156,000 to a member of the Forbes family in 1985
- A Life Uncorked by British wine critic Hugh Johnson - learn about the life of a well-known wine critic
- Adventures on the Wine Route by Kermit Lynch takes the reader on a journey through the wineries of France
- Finally, the article recommends a good wine atlas, such as this one co-authored by the aforementioned critic Hugh Johnson.
