More hangover help: Hair of the dog
Monday, January 5th, 2009Yesterday I posted a link to an article full of good advice on hangover prevention. Well, today I’m back with a followup article from the Daily Herald, listing drinks to help you recover. Of course, the first drink listed is the good old standby, the Bloody Mary, which I like nice and spicy with Sunday brunch. Another popular drink is the Black Velvet, usually served as half Guinness and half cider, but the actual correct recipe is half Guinness, half champagne.
There are others as well… if you drink coffee to sober up, why not add some whiskey and make it Irish? Then there’s sangria, a Spanish drink consisting mainly of wine and fruit, which has caused me many a hangover but which I’ve never used to cure one. Then there are vitamin-C rich mimosas, a mixture of orange juice and champagne, and the article’s author also recommends heavy beers as good hairs-of-the-dog.
